Weber's Real Grilling: Recipe No. 1

The first recipe from Weber's Real Grilling! Here's to summer 2010!

Taking a page from Julie and Julia, the Weir household has decided to grill their way through Weber's cookbook this summer! We happily join their efforts and readily offer to consume the product of this project! Tonight: lamb burgers with homemade tzatziki and fresh cut summer veggies with hummus. mmmmmmmm. A nice Cab Sauv was paired with the meal and a plate of dried apricots and blackberries were nibbled on for dessert.

Jer and Andrew spent the afternoon assembling the restaurant style patio heater - thus, making the Weir backyard THE place to be this summer! Good food, good wine, good laughs -- bring on the heat!!

Deciding to delve into the traditions of childhood, Amanda made easter nests for our Sunday night Easter dinner. She also tackled homemade paska - an homage to Mennonite Grandmothers everywhere! I hunted the town; not a single bakery that I could find made this eastern european traditional sweet bread. So, thank you Amanda for bringing a piece of home to our lips!
Sunday afternoon ladder ball! Girls v. Boys - and the girls kicked butt! Note: this is April 4th and I'm outside in my bare feet!

This entire weekend has been a great homage to a life lived fully and happily. From hitting the open road to meet Kristin in Red Deer for lunch to blasting blue grass music in the wheat coloured sunshine to tossing a ball in the backyard – joy is in the simple things.

Happy Easter!

red piano birthday bash!

What a great way to celebrate another year! Dinner with old friends, new friends and family was followed by an evening at the duelling piano bar, The Red Piano on Bourbon Street. From belting out the words to Uptown Girl to shouting at the hairy dude who refused to play Caribbean Queen – we had a blast.  The cherry on top for the night – randomly bumping into people that we know!! Yeah! Over the last 8 months - that is definitely a first!

Whirlwind Winnipeg Visit

Thanks to everyone who stopped by Nicola's store - Mad About Style had a fantastic day and I am so proud of her!

Thank you also for coming by to say hi to me, it was awesome to be able to see everyone. It was a quick trip and really, just a teaser, but nevertheless, being back home feels so good. Thanks, Mom - for having me and for stocking the fridge with enough soy milk to last a month!!

lots of hugs - r.
